Course Overview
Gas Engineers are responsible for the installation and maintenance of gas appliances in residential settings. These appliances may include, but are not limited to, a variety of work categories such as central heating boilers, unvented hot water storage systems, cookers, space heaters, meters, and the testing and purging.

- VENTILATION FOR DOMESTIC GAS BURNING APPLIANCES
- INSTALLATION OF PIPEWORK AND FITTINGS
- TIGHTNESS TESTING AND PURGING
- CHECKING AND/ OR SETTING METER REGULATORS
- UNSAFE SITUATIONS, EMERGENCY NOTICES AND WARNING LABELS
- OPERATION AND POSITIONING OF EMERGENCY ISOLATION
- CONTROLS AND VALVES CHECKING AND SETTING
- APPLIANCE BURNER PRESSURES AND GAS RATES
- OPERATION AND CHECKING OF APPLIANCE GAS SAFETY DEVICES AND CONTROLS
- CHIMNEY STANDARDS
- CHIMNEY INSTALLATION, INSPECTION AND TESTING

The role of a Gas Engineer is physically demanding, often requiring the lifting and moving of equipment, working at heights, and operating in confined spaces.
Possessing customer service skills and maintaining tidiness and respectfulness are crucial, as Gas Engineers frequently work in customers' homes. Their responsibilities encompass explaining the functionality of installations and appliances, offering energy efficiency advice, and consistently delivering excellent customer service.

Entry Requirements
Candidates are ideally expected to have four GCSEs at grades A*-C (9-4), including English and Maths.
Applicants must have attained at least grade 3 in both English and Maths to qualify for this apprenticeship.
No matter what level you are currently working at, you will be expected to further your skills in English and maths.
Prospective apprentices must pass an assessment, and be currently employed.
